Making Eden in Hong Kong

"Animistic with Coexistence"

By: TANG Chi Tat Gulu | Tutor: Aria Yang
There is a visible shift of paradigm in view of interiority and nature, highlighting the need for versatile approaches to creating an ‘Eden’ in our living environments and its contributions to, not just our well-being, but the overall ecosystem. This course was developed based on Earth Perfect?: Nature, Utopia and the Garden (Giesecke & Jacobs, 2012). This subject takes a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing three elements: cultural ideology of ‘Eden’, understanding of horticulture, and the fundamentals of landscape construction. Specifically, the students will learn to observe nature, classify plant species, analyze plant ecology, and identify the relationships between nature and manmade structures.
